Surahhammars Herrgaard was built between 1856-58 by the owner of Surahammars Bruk, Adolf Zethelius. He found the then present mansion too small. Adolf Zethelius had been travelling much and he was very impressed and inspired by the castles in England. That may be one of the reasons why the mansion got its characteristic look: ´ Classic with atmosphere of the middleages.´
